Before the commencement of building rehabilitation works, owners/OCs and works consultant should ensure proper completion of preparation work. Major tasks at this stage includes:
In view of the lack of management experience of works projects and contracts among owners/OCs, it is beneficial for them to learn the correlation among ‘major stakeholders’ in building rehabilitation, the points to note on managing each stage of works and contracts, and the feasible measures to facilitate proper management and supervision of works involved.
Since the duration required for building rehabilitation works varies with the latter’s scale and complexity, owners/OCs should monitor the progress of works closely under the guidance of the works consultant and appoint independent clerks of works for daily monitoring of works sites if necessary.
